Sleepy, Ancestor, Dangle

Standard

Three new words this week!  Hmmm, what do you think, a gothic tale about a duchess in a castle donning a gown for dinner with a brooch and dangling earrings?  What about an exposé on the 4th dwarf, Sleepy!  A haiku about our forefathers?  What interesting tales can we come up with for the prompt this week?  Hmmm!  Anyone?

  1. I was in the middle of packing for another trip, when the notification of this new post popped up on my dash. It’s been a hard few weeks, but the prompt of these words made me laugh inside, something I haven’t done in a while. So, I had to acknowledge that with a swift free-write offering:

His sister lay on the bed, hair wound in tangled loops on the pillow. He crawled up over her, pausing to stare into her face. A shame to ruin her sleepy peacefulness, but he might never get this chance again.

He propped himself on his arms and worked his tongue behind his teeth, preparing that time-tested method of torture passed down to him from his father, and his father’s father, and each countless ancestor to come before.

The wet noise between his lips made her eyes flicker open, too soon. Her pupils dilated at the sight of the waggling dangle of sputum, and she screamed. “Duncan! That’s disgusting!”

Thanks for giving me a quick laugh, Neeks! I hope others contribute, too!

LOL Mayumi, I laughed at this one! I’m glad you found the prompt humorous. Too funny, thanks for posting it!

  2. So… I wrote a blog using those 3 words. It’s not fictional or a poem, but I thought of you when I wrote it. Just sayin’ :) so, here’s the link: http://wp.me/p1gF8U-QP

Oh I enjoyed that so much Brian, I am vaguely familiar with the area and love it out there. I found your post a creative use of the prompt, to each his own style! :)

  3. Okay, here’s mine! A haiku poem, and believe it or not it works! Does dangling count for dangle? Yep. My blog my rules :)

    Ancestor rocks the
    sleepy baby, dangling
    her lullaby sweet.
